New Delhi: The Brajmandal Jalabhishek Yatra taken out by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad at Nuh in Haryana was resisted by a mob on the Gurugram-Alwar National Highway around evening and stones were pelted at the procession. On this occasion, two home guards were shot dead and seven policemen were injured while trying to stop the violence. As the violence escalated, government and private vehicles were targeted by the mob.
The attackers resorted to violence and damaged many vehicles by pelting stones and set them on fire. Police used tear gas to disperse the attackers. Firing has also been done in the air. Around two and a half thousand people who had come to participate in the religious procession have taken shelter in the Nulhar Mahadev Temple. Their vehicles are parked outside. The police have not yet succeeded in evicting them. Police have called for more security. Internet services have been shut down and prohibitory orders have been issued banning large gatherings.
