Pune : The district-level committee, under the chairmanship of Palakmantri Chandrakant Dada Patil, approved the development plan of the Hutatma Shivram Hari Rajguru Memorial in Rajgurunagar today. This plan will be submitted to the Cultural Department for approval by the Chief Secretary of the High Authority Committee.
This meeting held at the Vidhan Bhavan MLA Dilip Mohite Patil, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, District Collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, District Planning Officer Kiran Indalkar, Sub-Divisional Officer of Khed-Rajgurunagar Jogendra Katyare, Assistant Director of Archaeology and Museums Department Dr. Vilas Vahane, and others were present.
The architectural experts have completed the renovation of the development plan prepared for the memorial. Minister Patil stated that the main focus will be on the development of the main section by preserving the architectural features of the memorial. MLA Mohite Patil provided various information during this time.
By the government decision dated 14th March 2023, the Hutatma Shivram Hari Rajguru Birthplace Development Committee was established under the chairmanship of the Divisional Commissioner for the development of the premises in Rajgurunagar, Pune district.
The committee conducted study meetings and site visits to prepare the development plan for the memorial. This includes the entrance of the birthplace and the development of the main memorial, which will be prepared under the Department of Archaeology and the Public Works Department, respectively. A competition was held for these proposals.
Phase No. 1 is being developed under the Department of Archaeology, with a budget of 94 crore 99 lakh rupees. This includes the restoration of birthplace, Thorla Wada, main entrance, and monument, as well as the construction of a library, cafeteria, etc. It also includes the renovation of Ramghat, Chandoli Ghat, the door and stairs leading there, protected windows, parking, pathways, road beautification (landscaping), open auditorium, statues, murals, complete electrification of the monument, and lighting and sound arrangements (light and sound show), among other works.
Phase No. 2 and 3 are being developed under the Public Works Department, with a budget of 159 crore 12 lakh rupees. this includes the development of a museum, training center, patriot residence, cafeteria, library, parking, road development, furniture, electrification, and campus development, among other things, with a budget of 77 crore 82 lakh rupees. Phase No. 3 includes the development of riverfront, garden, protective windows, displays, murals, hologram projection, and other works, with a budget of 58 crore 62 lakh rupees. Additionally, 22 crore 68 lakh rupees are required for the land acquisition of Phase No. 2 and 3.
