Mumbai: The state government has introduced a new sand policy. Now this new sand policy is being implemented. According to this new policy, all the citizens will get sand at the rate of Rs 600 per brass i.e. Rs 133 per tonne on an experimental basis for one year. In order to get sand, customers need to register sand purchase demand on the Mahakhanij web portal. Revenue Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil said that a family will get a maximum of 50 tonnes of sand at a time.
In the last few years, there was a shortage of sand because the auction of sand was not held on time. As a result, the common man had to pay more for each brass sand. The state government has brought a new sand policy to curb the shortage of sand, more money for sand, and illegal sand extraction. According to this policy, customers who want sand must register sand purchase demand on Mahakhanij web portal. For those who are not able to do this, they will have to register this demand through Setu Kendra and the charges for this will be decided by the Collector.
The state government is positive to register sand demand through mobile app in the coming time. A family will get a maximum of 50 tonnes of sand at a time. If more sand is required, sand can be requisitioned after one month from the date of receipt of sand. After registering the demand for sand, the sand can be taken from the depot to the customer within 15 days and the customer will have to bear the cost for this. Customers will be required to provide an Aadhaar number while transporting sand from the sand depot. Now sand will be available for 600 rupees. Due to this, the sand auction will be closed and sand will be sold from the depot itself. This will bring relief to the common man and will help the prices of houses to be within reach, Minister Shri. Vikhe-Patil said.
