Pune: As per the notification of the Election Commission of India, preparations for the upcoming elections have begun and all officials have been instructed to update voter lists with utmost care. District Collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh provided this information.
At the District Collector's office, training was provided to Voter Registration Officers and Assistant Voter Registration Officers. Deputy District Collector and Deputy Election Officer Minnal Kalsakar were also present.
Dr. Deshmukh stated that a special brief revision program for eligible voters will begin on January 1, 2024, in the district. There are a total of 21 constituencies in the district, including 11 urban and 10 rural constituencies. Officials should take special care while updating voter lists, conducting surveys of voters over 80 years old, and separating eligible voters from the list, he added.
The District Collector further stated that modern software is now available, and all officials should be aware of it. Arrangements for voter registration should be made at schools, colleges, and local institutions. The timing of the work of polling officials and supervisors should be monitored, Dr. Deshmukh said.
Information on the 'Garuda' app was also provided to those present. Voter Registration Officers and Assistant Voter Registration Officers from the 21 constituencies in the district attended the training.
