For obtaining a special permit for the transportation of animals, interested parties can apply online at https://parivahan.gov.in and pay the fee online on the same website. After that, the concerned vehicle should be presented for inspection by the Motor Vehicle Inspector during office hours.
As per Rule 96 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Transportation of Animals on Foot) Rules, 2001, while transporting animals, the transporter must carry a certificate issued by the competent authority, the Animal Welfare Board of India, or a person or animal welfare organization authorized by the Central Government. If such a certificate is not issued, the transporter may be denied permission to transport animals.
It is prohibited to transport animals in violation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, the Transportation of Animals Rules, 1978, and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Transportation of Animals on Foot) Rules, 2001. Failure to comply with these rules may result in legal action, as notified by the Deputy Regional Transport Officer of Pimpri Chinchwad.
