Thane: The crime branch of Thane police has arrested a habitual criminal from Palasner, taluka Shirpur, district Dhule and seized a large cache of weapons from him.
Surjeet Singh alias Maja Awsing age 27. R/o Umartigaon Po. Balwadi Ta. Varla Dist. Badwani, Madhya Pradesh was arrested and police recovered 20 pistols, one machine gun, 2 magazines, and 280 live cartridges from him.
Wagle Estate, Thane Police was in searching for this accused for a long time. Senior Inspector Vikas Ghodke of Crime Branch Unit 5 got information that he would come to Palasner on July 10 for arms sale. After that, the team of Thane Crime Branch Unit 5 immediately reached Palasner. They arrested the accused. When he was searched, a large cache of weapons was found in his possession. He was arrested and produced before the court, and the court remanded him in police custody till July 18.
An investigation is underway as to who and for what purpose this huge stockpile of arms was to be sold.
