Mumbai: A meeting was held for the Chief Minister's Solar Agriculture Pump Scheme 2.0 to expedite the identification of suitable land for solar projects. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has given directions to work on transferring this land to the nodal agency on a mission mode.
The meeting for the Chief Minister's Solar Agriculture Pump Scheme 2.0 was held at Sahyadri State Guest House.
Additional Chief Secretary Rajgopal Devara, Principal Secretary of the Energy Department Aabha Shukla, Chairman and Managing Director of Mahavitaran Lokesh Chandra, and Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Shrikar Pardeshi were present.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the Chief Minister's Solar Agriculture Pump Scheme 2.0 is an ambitious plan for the state. We all are aware of the adverse effects of climate change. Therefore, we need to increase the use of solar energy. This will not only provide electricity at a lower cost but also contribute to environmental conservation. Providing farmers with electricity during the day will make this plan highly beneficial. All relevant departments should work in coordination. This ambitious plan of Maharashtra has also been accepted by the central government.
Under this scheme, the first five districts that perform exceptionally well will be rewarded, as mentioned by Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis.
Under this scheme, 2731 stations have been identified, with a capacity of 17868 megawatts. For this, 88432 acres of land are required, and 35,000 acres of land have been identified. It is expected to identify an additional 53,000 acres of land.
For this, the Maharashtra State Solar Agro Cluster has been established. Nashik, Solapur, Ahmednagar, Nagpur, and Dhule-Nandurbar have been selected as the first five clusters.
