Khalapur: A major landslide has occurred at Irshalgad in Khalapur, Raigad district. More than 100 people are feared trapped. The landslide resulted in the death of 10 individuals. 98 people have been successfully rescued. Treatment has begun in Navi Mumbai for the injured. The information was provided by Minister Uday Samant in the morning.
After the accident occurred at midnight, rescue operations have started. Several rescue teams are working at the site. Due to darkness and rain, the rescue work faced significant challenges, causing a temporary halt in the operations. Now, the rescue work has resumed once again. Shivdurg, Nisarg Mitra, and Vedha Sahyadri teams, along with the police administration, are actively involved in the rescue and relief efforts. The rescue operation is underway, and efforts are being made to bring out the remaining trapped individuals.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the accident site immediately after receiving information and oversees the relief and rescue work. Girish Mahajan, Uday Samant, and Dadaji Bhuse are also at the site, closely monitoring the relief work. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has reached the control room and is also keeping a close eye on the relief work. Minister Aditi Tatkare visited the hospital to meet the injured and she had ordered the hospital administration for proper treatment.
Due to heavy rainfall and difficult roads, there have been challenges in the rescue work, but immediate helicopter assistance will be provided after improvement in the weather conditions. All necessary types of equipment are ready for the rescue operation. NDRF teams have started the rescue work. Even if the roads are inaccessible, the relief work will continue. Central Home Minister Amit Shah has been informed about the incident, as stated by Chief Minister Shinde. Shivram Dhumne, the fire officer in Belapur, Navi Mumbai, lost his life while conducting rescue operations at night.
