Pune: Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), New Law College, Pune under the Gender Sensitization Cell organized a seminar under the Lecture series on 'Laws on Gender Justice'. This was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Ujwala Bendale (Dean & in charge Principal), Dr. Jyoti Dharma, (Vice-Principal) & Dr. Rajlakshmi Wagh(Faculty Coordinator). The resource persons were Ms.Archana Ganesh Katte, Assistant Police Inspector from the Bharosa Cell, Crime Branch, Pune & Sarjerao Babar Assistant Commissioner of Police.
Ms. Archana Ganesh Katte spoke about issues pertaining to the safety and rights of three vulnerable segments of society: women, children, and senior citizens. This aimed to foster awareness, promote discussion, and explore effective measures to enhance the well-being of these groups. She further urged the youth to take care of the senior citizens in their homes as they required to be looked after. Mr.Sarjerao Babar disseminated knowledge on Gender issues in cyber. He made the students aware about cybercrime taking place on the vulnerable section of the society. Various suggestions were put forth to the students to be aware of such crimes. Various life examples were told to the students in order to make them aware of such offences. The seminar highlighted the importance of proactive awareness campaigns to educate communities on women's safety, encouraging collective responsibility for fostering a secure environment and further to advise the youth on practicing vigilant online behavior to mitigate the risk of falling victim to crime. The youth of today were advised to take care of their parents and grandparents during their old age.
This seminar was organised to mark 80th Birth Anniversary of Late Dr. Patangrao Kadam, founder of Bharati Vidyapeeth.
