A 17-year-old student entrepreneur shares his vision to make a positive impact in the lives of street children

Vir Thapar, a 17-year-old budding student entrepreneur launched Mitra Energy Bar under the aegis of his company Incredible Ideas Pvt. Ltd. With this bar he is prompting action towards bettering the lives of street children.

While venturing through bustling urban streets, Vir couldn't help but notice the acts of kindness displayed by compassionate souls at traffic signals. These individuals extended their generosity by offering money, biscuits, and sometimes their meals to the street children. However, Vir's awareness of the crucial role of nutrition in these children's lives led him to think of how he could help. He realized that these well-intentioned gestures, though touching, fell short of providing the vital nourishment these youngsters so desperately need.

He envisioned creating an energy bar that was nutritious and tasty for anyone to consume. This product was priced affordably so that people could also carry it with them to giveaway.

He started studying various ingredients, meeting manufacturers, conducting numerous taste tests and finally came up with Mitra Bar. Crafted with meticulous care and precision, each Mitra Bar combines the goodness of almonds, the wholesomeness of foxtail, and the natural sweetness of dates. Vir did extensive sampling, and his friends and other respondents loved the taste.

In the venture, Vir looks after R&D, Manufacturing, Market Research, and Business Development, and he is joined by Anaya who heads Sales and Marketing for the venture. The team runs a highly energetic and engaging Instagram channel, while offline they are connecting with schools, clubs, gyms, and offices to place their product directly or through vending machines.

When spoken, Vir said, “An estimated 18 Million children live on streets in India, and with our bar, we want to make a small difference in their lives. And we don’t stop at just giving a nutritious bar to these children, but also pledge to donate 50% of our profits to Door Step School, an NGO that provides education to the street children”.

So, whether you buy a Mitra Bar for you or give it away, you can feel assured that your delectable snack is also acting as a catalyst for positive change in the lives of those in need.
