Patna: A heatwave has hit the entire country, with various states in North India, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra experiencing scorching temperatures day and night. In Bihar, 44 people have died due to the extreme heat and hot winds. The capital city of Patna recorded a temperature of 44.7 degrees Celsius.
An "extreme heat alert" has been issued for the districts of Aurangabad, Rohtas, Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, and Arwal, while an "orange alert" has been issued for Patna, Begusarai, Khagaria, Nalanda, Banka, Sheikhpura, Jamui, and Lakhisarai. Elderly people have been particularly affected, with many succumbing to heatstroke. All schools have been ordered to close.
