Pune: Central Electronics and Information Technology and Minister of State for MSME, Rajiv Chandrasekhar inaugurated the Global DPI Council and Global DPI Exhibition in Pune.
The third meeting of the Digital Economy Working Group began. India's successful implementation of digital initiatives based on population was recognized by Armenia, Sierra Leone, and Suriname, and a memorandum of understanding was signed on this.
The third meeting of the G20 D-WG began today in Pune with the inauguration of the Global DPI Council and Global DPI Exhibition. Rajiv Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology and MSME, inaugurated the DPI Council. Ministers from Suriname, Armenia, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Antigua and Barbuda, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Malawi, and Trinidad and Tobago were present at the event.
The opening session was welcomed by the Chairman of the G20 D-WG and the Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Alkesh Kumar Sharma, and the three-day program was outlined. They emphasized the importance of a future organization, the Global Digital Public Facility Savings, Cyber Training Toolkit, and Cyber Awareness of Children and Youth, as well as the Center of Excellence (CoE) for Virtual Excellence, which is related to DPI and focuses on priority areas.
Rajiv Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology and MSME, said that DPI is not a one-size-fits-all solution, but rather a tool for leveraging open sources and partnership capabilities and promoting innovation in DPI. He also said that India is committed to creating a TechAde (Technology Age) decade and that India can be a model for digital transformation worldwide.
India signed a memorandum of understanding with Armenia, Sierra Leone, and Suriname on the implementation of "INDIA STACK" initiatives."Successful implementation of digital measures based on the population's statistics was discussed and agreed upon in a meeting of the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) group.
The meeting was chaired by Antigua and Barbuda's Minister, Melford Walter Fitzgerald Nicholas, and conducted by Abhishek Singh. The DPI Council also held discussions on the topic of 'Digital Identities for Empowering People', chaired by Kenya's Cabinet Secretary, Alyuda Okech Owallo, and conducted by UIDAI's CEO, Rupinder Singh.
The discussion on 'Digital Payments and Financial Inclusion' was chaired by Tanzania's Permanent Secretary, Mohammed Khamis Abdulla, and conducted by the Managing Director and CEO of the National Payments Corporation of India, Dilip Asbe. The meeting was attended by Jonathan Marks-Kelley of the World Bank, Vivek Raghavan of EkStep, Rene C. Mendoza of the Assistant National SSS and ISSS of the Philippines, and Barbara Ubaldi of the OECD.
The discussion focused on digital transformation, the foundation of national priorities, and social unity. Various models of centralized, standardized, and decentralized implementation were discussed, including extensive discussions on India's Aadhaar and Philippines' PhilSys.
The meeting provided information on 14 departments, including digital identity, fast payments, digital locker, soil health card, e-national agriculture market, unified mobile app for new-age governance, open network for digital commerce, anamorphic experience, seamless air travel experience, language translation, training programs, telemedicine experience, and gamification of Digital India journey. Approximately 50 countries and 150 foreign representatives participated in the DPI Council, including ministers from Suriname, Armenia, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Antigua and Barbuda, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Malawi, and Trinidad and Tobago."
In this council, tomorrow, under the third meeting of the Digital Economy Working Group, a closed-door meeting will be held. The meeting will include discussions on data exchange in the Global DPI Council, public basic services, digital education, skills development, health, climate change response, agricultural organizations, and the establishment of global DPI organizations.
