Pune:
Fourth meeting of the 'G-20' education working group, organized by the
Savitribai Phule Pune University, a discussion session was held today on the
topic of 'Ensuring Basic Literacy and Numeracy through Integrated Education'.
In three separate sessions, various topics were discussed.
In the first session,
under the chairmanship of Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Indian Government's
Department of School Education, a discussion was held on 'Teaching Basic
Literacy and Numeracy through Integrated Education, Perspective and Pedagogy'.
Members from Spain, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and South
Africa participated in the discussion.
In the second session, a
discussion session was held on the topic of 'Parents and Community Members
Supporting Home Learning of Basic Literacy and Numeracy and their Role'. Aditi
Das Rout, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Child Development,
chaired the session. Representatives from the United States and China also
participated in the discussion.
In the third session,
Nidhi Chhibber, Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE),
presided over the discussion. This discussion was focused on building the
capacity and training of teachers for basic literacy and numeracy in a
multilingual context. Representatives from Britain, the Organization for
Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Saudi Arabia, and UNICEF also
participated in the discussion.
During the event, representatives from various
countries visited the multi-medium presentation on 'Basic Literacy and Numeracy',
which was part of the two-day national council on the topic of 'Teaching, Basic
Literacy and Numeracy, Digital Initiatives, Research, and Skill Development'.
They gathered information from various departments.
At the Savitribai Phule
Pune University, foreign representatives showed a special interest in the
exhibition of the latest technology and initiatives in the academic field in
India. The representatives expressed their expectation of cooperation during
the time when India is expected to provide assistance to other countries in the
field of research and education. Representatives from UNICEF, OECD, Spain,
Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, and UAE eagerly gathered information about the
programs of NCERT, CBSE, GUVI, Ayuka, and AISER.
The exhibition includes a demonstration of modern
educational tools based on the latest technology, along with the inclusion of
traditional Indian knowledge. The exhibition will be open to everyone at the
Khadakwasla Jadhav Sports Complex at Pune University until June 22, from 10 am
to 6 pm.
